The Flaming Lips bring in the New Year at OKC
Oklahoma has been called a lot of things, but boring shouldn’t be one of them. The University of Oklahoma, the Boomer Sooners, the Brickyard and, of course, The Flaming Lips all hail from the Oklahoma City/Norman, Oklahoma area. And if you were in town for the New Year, you would know that nothing can be boring when The Flaming Lips are performing.
On New Years Eve, frontman Wayne Scott kicked off the band’s annual “Freak Out” show, complete with the world’s largest mirror ball and balloon drop. At midnight, the band busted out with Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.”
Accompanying acts Stardeath and the White Dwarfs also joined in the fun for the single “Dark Side,” which was released in late December on iTunes.
