While sharing the stage, the bands will combine their songs together “into one massive gargantuan supersetlist,” according to Weezer’s website. “The bands will trade off setlist segments, switch off songs, share the stage and get loose and crazy together. No one is quite sure yet how it’s gonna go, but everyone is super excited!”

Weezer and Flaming Lips tickets are available for two side-by-side shows: July 28 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J.; and  July 29 at the Nikon At Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y.

Additional solo gigs with the Lips include Sept. 17 at the Great Saltair in Magna, Utah; Sept. 19 at the Eagle Park Pavilion in Eagle, Idaho; Sept. 20 at Portland’s Keller Auditorium; and Oct. 27 at The Norva in Norfolk, Va.

“We’ll start in late January, though I’m not sure if we’ll get together exactly by then,” said frontman Wayne Coyne in a Rolling Stone interview. “With this new thing, we’re going to spend a lot of time recording at our houses or wherever we are at. We’ll try to release a song a month and document the song in the making, whether it takes us three or five days or a week.”

The Flaming Lips most recent work was 2009‘s Embryonic, as well as the 1973 Pink Floyd remake,  The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs with Henry Rollins and Peaches Doing The Dark Side of the Moon.

The Lips will be stateside again on Sept. 19 at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, Minn., followed by four Canadian performances.

They also have tour dates scheduled in Eugene, Ore. on Sept. 29; Oakland, calif. on Oct. 1-2;  Austin, Texas for the Austin City Limits Music Festival on Oct. 10; Saint Petersburg, Fla. on Oct. 13; Lake Buena Vista, Fla. on Oct. 14; and St. Augustine, Fla. on Oct. 15.

Their tour is scheduled to wrap up in Boca Raton, Fla. on Oct. 16.

They are touring in continued support of (possibly the longest album name ever): The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs with Henry Rollins and Peaches Doing The Dark Side of the Moon.

The December 2009 album is a track-by-track remake of Pink Floyd’s legendary 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.

On New Years Eve, frontman Wayne Scott kicked off the band’s annual “Freak Out” show, complete with the world’s largest mirror ball and balloon drop. At midnight, the band busted out with Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.”

Accompanying acts Stardeath and the White Dwarfs also joined in the fun for the single “Dark Side,” which was released in late December on iTunes.

The Lips have announced a secret show to promote their upcoming double album Embryonic, which comes out today. The event takes place this Thursday, October 15th at The Flaming Lips Pop-Up Store at The Nike Theater in LA.

Tickets will be available first-come, first-serve starting at NOON on Thursday when the store opens. If you can’t wait, pick up a ticket TODAY at Amoeba Records when you buy your copy of the new CD.

Doors open at 6:30pm for the secret show… but just because you have a ticket, doesn’t mean you have a spot. When the venue reaches max. capacity, the doors will close with or without you inside! Bust out those sleeping bags and plan accordingly!
